Bowen Treatment

Gina performing Bowen on man

The Bowen Technique is a remedial holistic therapy. It offers the body an opportunity to restore structural integrity.

The technique consists of a series of moves across muscle, tendon and other soft tissue. The therapist uses her fingers or thumbs on specific areas, applying gentle pressure to effect a movement of tissue. During the treatment there are two minute intervals when the horse or person is left to rest while the body absorbs the information received from the moves.

How it works

Bowen moves are focused on crucial junctions of muscle and of bone, of nerve pathways, of blood and lymph circulation and of energy flow.

Circulation of the blood and lymph is stimulated. Crucial neural communication is facilitated and energy released by relaxing muscles and opening pathways. The Bowen moves do not create energy; they connect with energy already in the system. Blockages in pathways are freed. When structural balance is restored to the body all the body systems will benefit from improved function.
